About

Kindred Hospital Peoria

Kindred Hospital Peoria is a 50-bed transitional care hospital located three hours southwest of Chicago and two and a half hours northeast of St. Louis, Missouri in central Illinois. We are located along the Illinois River, steps from downtown Peoria and a quarter mile from the civic center.

Our hospital provides intensive long-term acute care to medically complex patients who require continued care and extended recovery time. Kindred Hospital Peoria is certified by Medicare, accredited by The Joint Commission, and licensed by the State of Illinois.

We are part of a nationwide network of Kindred Hospitals, which serve as the bridge for patients who are medically complex and require acute care, but are unable to recover completely in the traditional short-term acute care hospital setting. Our goal is to help patients grow stronger and more stable before they are discharged home or to a lower intensity level of care. We use an interdisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible.

My mother is at Kindred Peoria Illinois going on a month. Some of the nurses are great and some will lie to you. Some of the nurses say that my mother is doing physical therapy when in fact according to one of the patient advocates the only therapy she is receiving is respiratory. My understanding was that she was to receive both. Kindred social worker called me to inform me that i was to go to Kindred to receive training before mom can return home. I informed her that I was a caregiver. Social worker stated that they need to verify that they trained me. What a joke. Social worker and Kindred also refuses to transfer mom to a rehab facility in my city. This is only one of the many problems Kindred have. I implore that if you have a family member there and not receiving treatment that Kindred says they offer simply turn them in to medicare and other agencies that deal with them.
