About

Mathew Quaschnick, MA, LPCC

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor performing individual mental health counseling and therapy with adults and adolescents 14+. My office is conveniently located in the Uptown area in Minneapolis, MN.

My perspective on therapy is both practical and multi-dimensional. I have a strong base working with general therapy, depression, anxiety, anger management and symptoms associated with Bipolar. I have training and experience working with multiple therapy types: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and traditional Psychodynamic therapies. I am keenly aware of the importance of focusing on and identifying the uniqueness of what is troubling you, including issues that may seem to fall outside of traditional problems.

Compassion and empathy are central values I bring to therapy. This is the cornerstone in my way of creating a positive working relationship and will assist us in better understanding and uncovering the unknown aspects of your situation.

These "unknowns" can be compared to the riddle "if a tree falls, and there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound?" The answer may seem obvious but the potential difficulty in answering it fully is the same as trying to answer your questions about unwanted behaviors, thoughts or feelings. To find these unknowns, to be sure that the tree does make a sound: You need someone else to hear it, to hear your problem, and then, we can begin to implement the solution.
