I came in to Sherman Optical of Lynnwood with my new prescription and credit card expecting to either pay for new trifocal lenses with antireflective coating and Transitions as my eyes are a bit light sensitive for my older but still functional frame or a new frame and lenses.

I ended up not buying anything due to the honesty of the owner.

The owner, Mike Sherman first talked to me about my needs instead of presuming that I wanted to buy something.

The first thing he did was compare my "new" prescription to my existing four year old prescription lenses, what kind of work I do, and how long I have had my frames. Then he said to me that I had three choices.

The first was continue with what I had as the old prescription wasn't that different from the new other than some small changes. The second was replace my existing lenses but he didn't recommend that unless I was having trouble seeing, if the lenses were scratched up, or I just wanted an up to date prescription. Neither applied. The third was get a new frame and lenses when I was ready. He recommended that I were to choose this choice to get a frame that was deeper in depth to give me more reading space due to my having trifocals and narrower in width to reduce the size of my lenses since I use Prisms and to fill my face appropriately.

I ended up deciding to save some more money for a better and newer frame that would meet my needs.

I also got a quote for him for the lenses and found out that he was 2/3rds the price of the place I had originally bought them from. So it is nice to know that when I come back, my cost will be affordable. And he grinds his own lenses.
