About

Alyaa Elassar, MD

Genuine medical and emotional patient care while achieving high pregnancy success rate and safe outcome.

My name is Alyaa Elassar. I am a reproductive endocrinologist & fertility specialist. I completed residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at New York Presbyterian hospital - Weill Cornell Medical College, followed by a three-year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at The University of Connecticut. We offer genuine medical and emotional care to our patients in a relaxed private atmosphere. I personally counsel patients, perform their ultrasound monitoring and fertility treatments (IVF or IUI). We are always available to accommodate and answer our patient's inquiries. I have gained experience in managing women with low ovarian reserve and advanced reproductive age where I published multiple articles utilizing innovative stimulation protocols to improve the reproductive outcome. I have mastered as well safer stimulation protocols and alternative trigger medications in women with hyper-ovarian response and PCOS. We help women extend their fertility potential through egg freezing.

My wife and I (we are a lesbian couple) decided to go to NYC IVF and see Dr. Elassar after reading the reviews on Yelp. What we initially thought would be a quick artificial insemination ended up in the discovery that my wife is a carrier for a genetic disorder and that we would need to do IVF with PGD. Dr. Elassar explained everything to us each step of the way and helped us review our options. She made sure we had the information necessary to make an informed decision and never pushed or pressured us into making a decision. Often she would provide us with information and instruct us to go home and think about it before making a decision. Tahira, the Office Manager, explained to us the financial process and answered many of our questions. Our IVF with PGD did not work out, due to issues with the genetics lab, not Dr. Elassar or NYC IVF. As a result, we decided to do a second round of IVF using my eggs, while having my wife still be the carrier of the pregnancy. Dr. Elassar was incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. She is a brilliant doctor and a wonderful human being. She is attentive, supportive, and genuinely cares about her patients. I know she sees a number of patients, but for my wife and I, Dr. Elassar made it seem like we were her only patients. She promptly responded to our emails and phone calls. She is extremely dedicated to her job and to her patients. Tahira was also wonderful and great at responding to emails and answering our questions. We met with Dr. Azim on one occasion, and he briefly consulted on a second occasion. He too was very nice and knowledgeable. Now that we are 8 weeks pregnant, we will be transitioning to an OB, which Dr. Elassar helped us find. We are thrilled to be moving forward with our pregnancy, but will sincerely miss seeing Dr. Elassar. If/when we decide to try for a second child, we will absolutely return to NYC IVF. I highly recommend NYC IVF and Dr. Elassar.
