About

Sue Tepper, LCSW

Life is unpredictable, one day everything runs smoothly and the next day it is bumpy. Most of the bumps are manageable, they get handled and we move on. Every so often, the bumps are big they can’t be handled in stride; or there are too many at one time. This is a good time to look for support, to find someone with a different perspective or resources.
Budd Therapy Group was founded to help you navigate those bumps that you can’t smooth out alone. My mission is to provide you with a safe, comfortable, and compassionate environment to explore your thoughts and feelings, to find your balance.
There are many issues that therapy can help you with but I specialize in a few areas.

Trauma
I specialize in trauma working with many different types. Trauma is defined as any event that affects a person’s view of themselves or their place in the world. It doesn’t have to be a major event or something that is recognized as trauma, it is about the symptoms, not getting past it.

Parenting
I have a lot of experience and knowledge working with parenting issues, specifically the challenges of parenting adolescents and teens. As a professional I have taught many parents skills to navigate the parent child relationship and as a parent I have faced some of the same challenges.

Teenagers
Teenagers face many stressors in today’s environment. There is pressure to perform academically, to fit socially, and to excel at extracurricular activities such as sports. I help them to build confidence, and self esteem, to strengthen parent – teen relationships.

Treatment Specialties
I have experience and knowledge about many different treatment approaches that allow me to customize a treatment plan for every individual. I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Systems.

What we do
Budd Therapy group offers psychotherapy to adults, teens and adolescents in a safe and comfortable environment. The office is located at the Center Point Wellness building offering a holistic approach to helping you find balance and happiness in your life. You can expect a treatment plan focused on healing both your body and mind. The relationship between the client and the therapist is extremely important to therapy. I will provide you with a confidential and non-judgmental environment so that we can work as a team to find the help you are looking for.

What do expect
Sessions are client focused and strength based. During your first session I will explain how therapy works, gather information about what you are looking for, and make sure we are a good fit. It is extremely important that you as the client feel comfortable in therapy, and the therapist’s style is comfortable for you. I always tell my clients that no one lives their lives but them, therefore, I can give suggestions, I can offer thoughts but ultimately the client must decide what fits and what doesn’t.

Services Treatment is customized to each client, it is eclectic and strength based. Different modalities are combined for the best outcomes and the two major modalities are EMDR and CBT.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
The information processing system in the brain gets blocked by a disturbing event or events. EMDR processes the memories releasing the block which in turn promotes healing. EMDR is short term therapy and includes history taking, resourcing, processing, and future templates. Clearing one event may process other events at the same time.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT believes that all thoughts and feelings control actions. It is the messages learned though out life that affect how we act. By understanding and replacing the distorted messages can affect change.
