We produce chemical free mattresses that last 40 years. In July 2007 the Consumer Product Safety Commission began requiring mattresses to be flame-proof. The only way mattress manufacturers can meet the strict standards is to infuse their mattresses with fire-retardant chemicals. The CPSC admits that the chemicals that will be used are toxic. For instance, the CPSC report "Quantitative Assessment of Potential Health Effects From the Use of Fire Retardant Chemicals in Mattresses" reports, "Antimony trioxide [a fire-retardant chemical] would be considered 'toxic' under the FHSA [Federal Hazardous Substance Act]." They list in their report that all the fire-retardant chemicals used are toxic.
