Dr. McFadden couldn't even keep his own family together or even stay close to his kids after the divorce. Now MacFadden's daughter is a hospital shrink at Mt. Sinai, NYC's notoriously abusive hospital. Trying to please 'Daddy" no doubt. And like her daddy she too is a cold fish with personal priorities that have little to do with caring for the patient in front of her. Perhaps she has issues related to her psychiatrist dad divorcing her mother, then moving across the country to the west coast. It looks like he wanted to get as far away from the family as possible.

People like the McFadden's don't go into medicine because they have more empathy than most. On the contrary, they go into medicine because they have LESS empathy and are comfortable making their $$$ by exploiting those who are suffering. They are supremely egocentric, poisonous to their patients and befoul the word "medicine".
