I apologize for deleting the generic draft of a 'review' suggested to me. Very cold, impersonal and not informative. I have been seeing both Donna Cain-Hlenski, MSW and Dr.Thomas Hlenski since late 2000...for both personal and marriage counseling. I was punted to Dr Tom when (my now ex) husband became verbally abusive to the ever-so-sweet Donna Hlenski. Dr. Thomas Hlenski saw me thru my divorce, as well as my countless pitfalls in life thereafter. And there have been many self destructive moments where I have been almost ashamed to return, tail between my legs, having fallen off the radar for a few months. What I'm attempting to say is this: The times in my life when I 'push' away...those are the times I do the most damage to myself. He is the angel on my shoulder, my voice of reason, my swift kick in the ass. As much as I think I can do it myself after all these years, I have come to terms with the fact that I cannot. I am one of those people who need someone like DrHlenski to check in with. A sort of father figure (though not old enough to be that), yet he does those things mine never was able to do for me....in the manner DrHlenski does. I just think of all the grief I would have saved myself by "taking time off from therapy". If you are thinking of seeing him...GO. You will never regret it. NonFreudian, no lying on a couch, home-like environment---the most intelligent, insightful and nonjudgmental man you will ever meet. Not to mention you will envy his marriage, should you meet Donna! She's a doll!! You won't leave crying your eyes out or feeling worse, nor will you have the epiphany of your life. The visits are more like batting around issues and thought. You will drive away thinking, "Huh. I never thought of it like that."
They BECOME family. Even their golden retriever puppy. Love him, too ;)
