I took my furkid in because of an infected eye, possibly from an infected ear. I wasn't a regular, and they were generous enough to schedule me in, which was INCREDIBLE. It turned out that both ears were infected. The care was great, but when I asked about getting an antibiotic for his eye, I was told the ear meds would cover the eye problem. One additional treatment was needed ten days later, yet the eye continued to mat with pus and seep. I called three days after the second treatment very concerned about the eye. I connected with an answering service. The following morning, I sent an email with a photo of his eye requesting antibiotics. I received NO call back OR email on that day. The following day, the eye was bulging and clearly causing him pain. As soon as I knew they were open, I called twice more, again receiving an answering service. The office FINALLY returned my call late that morning, about the time our dog died from the infection. We were told the Vet was ON vacation after he was dead. SOMEONE dropped the ball and did so more than once. HAD we been told that he could not receive care, had we been told in advance that the doctor would be on vacation, we would have headed for the animal hospital immediately. BUT we were not. He died as a result of pure negligence on the part of the staff. HAD I gotten the antibiotics as I requested initially, I firmly believe my adorable, energetic, lovable doxie would be sitting on my lap right now. But he isn't. He's in the ground. He's gone, and I'm devastated.

This is a WARNING to all pet owners and people in general. Don't mess with infections. INSIST treatment or follow up treatment is a part of the plan. Leroy suffered a horrible death. He went into toxic shock, biting down on his tongue. His jaw locked up. His neck and shoulders locked up. And he didn't actually pass until his organs shut down from the infection poisoning his blood. This is NOT an easy death. Be warned. I've lost friends to this, and now we lost our Leroy. BE PUSHY. BE FIRM. Get the care you need and deserve.
