We have been taking our pets to Dr. Gordon before he sold to VCA and had continued to use this facility and other vets on staff since they moved to this location. Several weeks ago I took both our dogs for their vaccinations. Our 2 year old german shepard mix had to receive multiple shots and questioned if this procedure was advisable. The option would have been to split the vaccinations between two visits. The female vet assured us it would be no problem and we went ahead with the procedure. A day and a half later our shepard was extremely sick with loose stool and vomiting. We made an appointment to bring him back to the vet. Upon our arrival the receptionist stated she "doubted it was the result of the vaccines since symptons would occur in two to three hours after the procedure". I wondered to myself when she became a vet! Anyway, we saw another vet and he informed us our dog indeed had a severe reaction to the vaccinations and he would have "never given him so many shots at once and our dog could have died". Since I was desperate and so afraid he could die we immediately spent another $500.00 for his treatment. Three weeks later he is just now really getting back to normal. Finding a good vet is hard and I have paid more to keep using VCA Arroyo for what I considered piece of mind. No more, I am definitely going to find another vet! I can no longer recommend VCA Arroyo based on this last experience. I can tolerate higher prices, but I cannot tolerate incompetence!
