About

Kathy Andres, ACVIM

We are a locally owned, 24-hour emergency, critical care, and specialty veterinary hospital located in the Inner Sunset district of San Francisco. Working with local family veterinarians, we provide veterinary care for pet owners after their regular veterinary offices have closed or when specialist care is indicated.

Addressing the medical needs of a very sick or injured pet and the emotional needs of the pet’s family can be challenging. Tackling chronic, acute, or life-threatening situations is not for every veterinary practice. When you need us, we are here for you and your pets. At AIMSS and AES, we pride ourselves on our collective skills in treating complex health problems and coming up with effective solutions.

Many pet owners choose us because they want the same level of care that they have for themselves and other members of their family. We offer the highest level of care and provide the tools and information to make informed health care decisions for your pet.

A Unique Practice Staffed with Dedicated Professionals & Specialists

AIMSS has assembled a team of board-certified veterinary specialists who have extraordinary diagnostic and patient care skills and impeccable credentials.

AES offers 24/7 emergency and critical care in the same convenient location. This offers peace of mind in an emergency situation—your pet is seen by a veterinary emergency doctor and consultation with one of our specialists is only minutes away. We keep your family veterinarian informed of your pet’s condition and collaborate with them to provide the most comprehensive care for your pet.

AIMSS and AES, Locally Owned & Operated

Dr. Jill Williamson founded Animal Internal Medicine and Specialty Services (AIMSS) and Animal Emergency Services (AES) in 2011 with one goal in mind: to provide exceptional veterinary care and client service to the San Francisco Bay area.

As large corporations are taking over smaller, privately owned and operated clinics, we remain true to our values by maintaining our independence as a privately owned and operated first-class veterinary hospital. We are proud to be the only locally owned and operated specialty, emergency, and critical care veterinary facility in San Francisco. The founder and owners of AIMSS and AES work daily in the hospital as clinicians and managers.

What does local ownership mean to you and your pet’s health?

We are not limited by corporate policies or compensation models. This allows us to provide a personal and quality veterinary care experience. Most importantly, it also enables our specialists and emergency veterinarians to collaborate as a team of experts, focused solely on what is best for your pet’s health.

Hours & Location

We see patients 24/7 in our emergency clinic and our hours for specialty appointments are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some specialty services available on Saturdays.

AIMSS/AES is located at 1333 9th Avenue in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset district, near Golden Gate Park. Our location and the fact that we provide parking make us convenient to many locations in Marin County and the Peninsula.
