Two small grandchildren went through a horrific situation for several years. The family court had Wilson interview both parents for custody after the 2nd year of joint parenting. The father divorced the mother because she had a serious substance abuse problem that she refused to acknowledge.. For the first two years of the divorce, the father begged the court to order alcohol testing on his x-wife. Through many ER visits and long ICU stays, we wondered why Wilson did not read the mothers own hospital medical reports or look at the injuries to the children in the mothers care. Why she did not look at the children's escalating absences from school when in the mother's care, why she did not look at the CPS contacts ? We will never know.
The abuse got worse and fell on deaf ears. Wilson wrote in her report that the mother did not meet the criteria for alcohol abuse. She wrote the court that the father needed anger management classes. Yes he was angry as we all were, when watching traumatized children having to be in the care of a growing abusive situation. The father never threatened anyone. We were all stunned at Wilson's report for the court. Wilson determined that his focus on the children's welfare was a control issue-thus was her determination he had an "anger issue when talking to her/Wilson". Well after Wilson's own almost illegible report to the court, the young mother died the next year of cirrhosis. She also lived with a physically abusive raging alcoholic raging boyfriend according to the medical reports-after they were subpoenaed to the court. Wilson never looked at the whole picture. The mother was so jaundiced the last year of her life that Wilson was so off the mark not to do the job of a real therapist. I would never recommended her. The other therapist's involved, said it was not if, but when--- the kids lives would be taken in the moms care. Sad as it is, the mom died, the kids are traumatized. Every person that sees a client for an assessment, has to do the right job, the first time. In this case, the kids will take forever to heal, enough. They suffered as well as the father. To Wilson, it to me seems like it was ..next client,,she should have her license yanked for this one case alone.
