The ER experience at this hospital was so disappointing. They were so short staffed, the nurses are burned out and forced to the point of being uncaring. Short version of our story is my son was almost given twice as much insulin as he should have which would have dropped his glucose to nothing. NO apologies were given by anyone and I look forward to meeting with administration and reporting the incident to the Board of Nursing.

The day before Thanksgiving I was in the Children Hospital Emergency Room with a four year old student of mine, her Mom and my school systems translator. We have been trying to find help for this student and the day before the translator had her at another clinic and that clinic suggested that the Mom would need to take her to the Children's Hospital ER. The Mom would not be able to do this until the next day and the clinic said ok but as soon as possible. When we got there I could not believe the attitudes of the nurses that took her information. There was not one smile, one kind word or not one characteristic of a person who sees children on daily basis. Even people that don't understand English understand a simple smile. I will say when we went back the doctors and nurses were much kinder. They agreed that the problem has to be fixed. It's a problem from birth where the leg bone has never been in the socket...simply put...but...no insurance along other issues this would not possible there. We will find help for this four year old child. My main complaint is with the reception and triage nurses. I hope this was just a bad day and not an everyday thing.
