Oh, these people are very caring! I mean, they're always considering how much money you have in your pocket!

If I ever need to take my pet to a vet, I want them to care about my animal. At this vet clinic, many pet owners won't mind the semi-over-priced annual vaccinations that are required, but they may mind when the doctor suddenly starts shoving multitudes of seemingly random shots/vaccinations that are very needless. Next thing you know your bill comes to around half a grand and they're telling you "Have a nice day!" and smile at you no matter how sickly or how much your pet needed the check-up.

To get away from the expenses rant, the atmosphere of the place has never felt right to me. Never have I been to a vet's office and find myself very uncomfortable while sitting in the waiting room. Also, every time I've ever had to ask a question at the front desk, I've received very bored and, the one time, got a sarcastic answer. Even my friend has come up to me and said "I can't stand the feel of that place."

Now to actually look at the good side, the pro to the place is that while they aren't open to the public every hour of the day, they still have no problem handling emergency visits and calls. And there are also at least two doctors that actually kind of care about your pet.

I haven't gone to this vet clinic for a while now. My pets had been going there for years, but I'm happy I no longer have to really think about this place.

This vet practice has changed so much in the last eight years. While they are bigger and offer more hours, they seem more concerned with making money than the animals' welfare. You can't just take your pet there for vaccinations or treatment without them trying to make you get a whole list of other things done. I was very concerned for my cat at my last visit, but felt like I was getting a hard sell from a used car salesman. They do everything they can to convince you that your pet absolutely NEEDS a variety of procedures/tests done, and the prices are ridiculous.

They didn't tell me very much about the treatments' risks and benefits. I still felt like I had to do my own research when I got home. When I left the veterinarian's office I had no idea what my pet's condition was. They could have just told me he was dying of kidney failure, but they seemed more interested in squeezing as much money out of me as they could.

As far as positives, they did see my cat right away, and the staff members seemed very kind and animal-friendly. The lobby, exam room and restrooms were very clean, and everyone was polite. They did work with me for making payments on the $1500+ bill, which I appreciate very much. Not many vets do that. However, I am switching to a smaller, more pet-oriented vet practice. Butler Vets seems more like a money-making machine than anything else. And God forbid you have a pet emergency. They charge you about $80 just for coming in.
