About Thomas Loafmann, DVM
Equine Medical Associates was founded in 1973 by Dr. Thomas G. Loafmann and provides both general health and emergency care services to horses in the St Louis area.
In 1984 we began providing Equine Veterinary service in Illinois. We now make farm calls to the Greater St Louis area as well as a 60 mile radius from East St Louis, Illinois and a 60 mile radius from St Louis, Missouri.
In 1990 we opened our current clinic in Glencoe, Missouri in West St Louis County. This facility is a fully equipped equine hospital with an examination room as well as full surgical and hospitalization facilities. These facilities are available for haul-in appointments as well as elective and emergency medical procedures.
In December 2012, Equine Medical Associates started a satellite clinic located just outside of Troy, Illinois to better service our Illinois clients. This facility serves as a place for seeing haul-in appointments as well as a place for hospitalization when the need calls. In addition to providing these services for our clientele, we accept referrals from other veterinarians in Missouri and Illinois.
Our practice is dedicated to providing horses with the most comprehensive medical and surgical care available. We wish to promote the health and welfare of the horse through an emphasis on preventative medicine as well as providing quality emergency care.

One thing I did enjoy was the waiting room chairs. They were comfortable and I didn't mind waiting in them for the appointment. They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up. My pet hates going to the vet so I was very relieved that I was allowed to stay with my pet throughout the appointment. They really make an effort to make sure that the pets are comfortable and happy at all times, which in turn makes me very happy as well. Whenever I make an appointment, I'm always confident that they're going to be ready for me at my scheduled time. At other places I've been to, it's always bothered me when they postpone my appointment, but they've never done that here. They have a huge selection of medication available for pets and are very knowledgeable about each brand provided. Every time I pick up medication they always have what I'm looking for and have never been out-of-stock.
