Susan Donohue changed my life, and soul, forever. She took off the cork that had blocked off a huge and crucial part of my life. it was the greatest gift anyone has ever given me. it keeps expanding, correcting all of the darkness that had lodged itself in the empty places. I continue to remember my own beautiful memories that were lost, including the people that became part of me, because they loved me. I have found joy and contentment that can't be taken away! How can I even express that much gratitude? God blessed me with an angel, and I hope that she gets to know what an amazing thing she did for me

My husband and I both were patients of Susan. We are also both small business owners. We saw her for several months and both did EMDR therapy with her and all was good, we really liked her and thought she was an insightful and caring therapist. Then things changed.I was in the middle of my EMDR therapy, one hardcore emotional session down, and another scheduled for today. I use google calendars and so does my hubbs for our personal and biz appointments. I had an old password on mine, bc hubbs had changed his, that caused our appointments to not show up. I had an appointment today at 1pm, I missed it due to the calendar issue. I had also missed a prior appointment due to having the flu (which was not a no-show, I had called to cancel, bc I was very ill with a respiratory illness). So today Susan called my husband when she couldn't reach me, I was 30 miles away with sketchy service, and told him she was dropping me as a client due to 2 "no shows". My husband called me 10 minutes later when I had service to let me know Susan was dropping me as a client. I was devastated as I felt I was making good progress and that Susan actually knew my rejection issues and cared about me as a client. I was wrong. After speaking with her receptionist, Pepper, and letting her know how hurt and unfair and unprofessional this seemed, Susan herself called me. She denied telling my husband that she was dropping me and that "I needed to find a way to get to my appointments on time." As a small business owner of 2 of my own, I found her indifference and curt, uncaring responses uncharacteristic for the therapist I had come to trust and know. Knowing I too am in my busiest season of the year, and technology sometimes fails us and people get sick from time to time. I had rescheduled with Pepper and was afraid that I was going to come in for a lecture and then be dropped as a client. The most disturbing part of all of this, was that Susan herself told us she couldn't "bill" us for the missed appointment legally b/c we are medicaid clients. So this really came down to money. She was ready to drop her lowly medicaid clients, who DID admittedly accidentally no show, once, not twice as she claimed. THAT IS DISCRIMINATION. Money rules everything and it's truly sad. We thought she cared about us as clients enough to give us the benefit of the doubt. She does NOT. I was in tears and broken hearted as I had come to trust her as a professional and she knew my reasons for being there and all we had been through as clients. After denying she was snippy with mu husband and "dropping" me, she told me to come in the next week to continue my therapy. Alas, I think it's best we cut ties with her professionally and see someone else that conducts themselves in a compassionate and professional manor because she was so ridiculous when she spoke to my husband. So all in all, if you're reading this, she is a good therapist, I loved the EMDR and so did my husband, just keep in mind, she cares more about getting paid, than actually helping you and continuing your progress as her client. I am actually quite sad, because I felt I was making great progress and now have to start all over with someone else. As business owners ourselves, we get stood up occasionally too, and it stinks, but we always treat people with respect and kindness, because legit stuff does actually come up and happen in people's lives. Unfortunately we were not granted this same kindness. God forbid your calendar fails, or you get sick and call and cancel an appointment and your ON medicaid. However if you're a regular pay out of pocket or insurance client, you can no show and call in as much as you wish b/c then she can legally bill you. Discrimination for the "lower classes" indeed, which we ARE NOT. Disgusting and disheartening to say the least.
