They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. Their staff was not that friendly, and didn't go out of their way to make me feel welcome. I feel like my appointment was pointless. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. It was pretty hard to find the building, but I eventually found it. Where Was The Love of Christ? I took my father to new New Beginnings for counseling. He was an illiterate man who was a victim of severe child abuse that left him handicapped for life and having PTSD. The counselor we saw gave him reading and writing assignments even though he knew my dad was illiterate. When I helped my dad with the assignments, the unlicensed student counselor accused me of wanting counseling for him and him not wanting it. On his last visit, he was unwell and wanted to end early. The counselor accused him of not wanting counseling and got very impatient with him and I. My dad ended up in the hospital two hours later with double pneumonia. I wrote the Director and found no resolution even though she admitted that my father's records showed that he was illiterate and writing assignments should not have been given to him. I found my dad another counselor through The Counseling Source and my dad saw her for the rest of his life (that first pneumonia was the sign of a swallowing problem that slowly took his life over the next three years) and my dad proved how bad he wanted counseling by the wonderful relationship he built with his Counseling Source Counselor and the hard work he did to dig into severe child abuse memories. His counselor called me to tell me how sad she was when he recently passed away. She had grown to love him so much that his death broke her heart, so obviously he wanted counseling. He just didn't want it from someone like who he got at New Beginnings who thought God could make him read and write at the snap of a finger or get well at the snap of a finger. This was no way to treat an old man
