The owner is the snake in Jungle Book, don't look into hers eyes. The place was dangerous for residents when my mother was there. Had the place caught fire, most of the residents would have perished. The state gave her warnings which she ignored until they shut her down. She will tell you anything to get your money. STAY AWAY.

I can unfortunately back up GRad's story. Do not give the owner a large deposit up front because if you want to move your loved one or they pass away, the owner cannot pay the money back because The Arches has filed for bankruptcy. She gives you a receipt that says "Community Fees" which means non-refundable. Because she is using the large deposit towards the room fee each month it is not considered illegal per say. I did find out down the line that she could get in trouble for not having a signed contract outlining what the deposit means etc. so if you didn't get your money back and want to complain to the Attorney General you can.

I would say some of the staff are good but some are not. They definitely don't give enough individual care. The owner and the staff told my family that the doctor said a certain thing to get us to do what they wanted. When I talked to the doctor directly he said that he had never recommended that and would recommend a more humane but timely solution... which is why they didn't want to do it.

Meredith Bay Colony Club has much better staff. They are always open to tlaking with you and treat you in a professional manner. And the facility is new and has been built to work well for people with dementia. They also have independent and assisted living for non-memory so they have several sources of income and are more stable financially.
