Dr. Binnenbaum is a great surgeon. I had a hernia repair in May and now a gastric sleeve in December. He is a very cautious surgeon. He required I undergo a liver ultrasound, EGD scope as well as a IVC filter to prevent possible clots after surgery. I never felt like a number and felt very comfortable asking him questions. He was very reassuring, yet realistic. He warned me that my hernia surgery would be a painful recovery, and he was right. I had to have a mesh inserted. However, I was well medicated and progressed as anticipated. When I went for the sleeve, he assured me it would be easier than the hernia. Boy was he right. I was up and walking that afternoon and truly the only discomfort I felt was from gas build-up. This is common and unavoidable. He released me to the intensive care unit to ensure I was closely monitored. I never found myself waiting for a doctor to check on me. Either Dr. Binnenbaum or someone from his practice was in to see me twice a day. When I asked for sleep medication, the nurses were able to reach his office immediately. Even the nurses praised him and his practice. My family and friends as well as I am shocked that I am doing so well. I would highly recommend Dr. Binnenbaum and would not hesitate to have him perform surgery on me again.

After I had the original Lap Band Surgery in May of 2010 surgery and then had a followup to correct an issue, Dr.Binnenbaum would not listen to me that something was wrong. The area around the incision was red and swollen and hot to the touch. After months of arguing with him and him telling me to "take pain meds" and that it was my "fault"I was having no results, and one final heated altercation I left the practice to find another surgeon to reverse what he had done. I have since had to have Lap Band removed because not only did the port flip and become infected but it was protruding out of my stomach. The infection led to a blood infection and a four day stay in the hospital. I would NOT recommend this place unless you can see Dr. Borao. He seems a bit more human and reasonable. The other Dr. is a butcher.
