I was here twice for major depression and suicide. The staff regularly ignored and neglected me, sometimes humiliated me. The rooms have 3 beds each, and we are locked out of the rooms during the day, and have to ask for permission from the staff just to go to the bathroom. The day room is no bigger than the bedrooms and everyone is bumping into each other. If a patient refuses to do something, such as go to a group, take meds, or even go to eat, the staff then ignores them as a punishment. The place is very depressing, the staff is rude, and barely care about the other patients, and the food that is served is prison-quality. The facility feels more like a prison than a hospital

I was in Brynn Marr's military wing after suicidal thoughts. I was really hopeful about it because I'd heard good things about inpatient care and didn't feel I was getting what I needed from outpatient care. I was drastically disappointed by both the care I received and saw. This place was strictly daycare for adults. We watched TV all day and played a game here and there (such as Monopoly or basketball). The schedule looked substantive and useful but it was not at all followed. Initially I blamed the on-duty staff for this. I complained, especially about not doing the group therapies, and they did some the next day. I quickly realized it was not the on-duty staff's fault at all. The scheduled groups were a COMPLETE waste of everyone's time. All of us were there because we either attempted suicide or had thoughts about it, but NONE of the therapies/groups even mildly touched that topic. One of the "groups" was showing us an inspirational movie about a man that overcame stress, but his stress was stuff like his stove and car breaking down - normal everyday life kind of stuff. None of us thought about killing ourselves over everyday stuff. One of the patients was abused as a child, another had PTSD from multiple combat deployments, another was raped twice - nobody said "the car broke down and I can't take it anymore". Those making the group therapies at this hospital are incompetent and out of touch with why their patients are even patients, or they just don't care. Several of the on-duty staff knew this and were frustrated with it themselves because they saw it every day but the doctors don't listen to them either. The doctors had an answer for everything and if you had a problem with something it was only because you were being unreasonable, not because there was actually anything wrong, or maybe because you needed more medication.

Less than 24 hours after the woman who'd been raped checked in, one of the other patients smacked her on the butt. He did it in front of other people and it was on camera, so it's not like she was making it up. Her room was alone right next to the guy that did it and farthest from the staff's office. After that happened, THEY DIDN'T MOVE THE ROOMS OR TAKE ANY OTHER PRECAUTIONS. I heard the nurse tell her she was sorry it happened and that was the end of it. Another woman checked in the next day and the staff didn't say anything to her - just moved her into the same room right next to this guy. The entire ward was pissed. The next day, one of the nurses found her crying in the bathroom. She asked her about it and they had the women move their room up by the staff's office. I get that they can't control the behavior of every patient at all times but to not do anything about it after the fact. I don't know if she tried to kill herself or had been thinking about it but either way she was there because rape had pushed her that far. Now she's here for help and in less than 24 hours she's assaulted again and nobody does anything about it. She's locked in this tiny hallway and made to sleep right next to the guy. I realize it was just an ass grab, but since she was there for being raped in the first place, I can't imagine what kind of memories and torture that had to bring back for her and then being locked down in close quarters with him and not feeling safe afterward. I was appalled by this facility. Maybe some inpatient centers are great, but this wasn't one of them.
