This counselor Is very insightful and listens. She was not afraid to point out how others were viewing my behavior. I can open up to others and be friendly and also accept that others are not ever going to like me or themselves. Anyway, this counselor has a gift.

Privacy means nothing to this counselor. After a bitter divorce, she was our chosen counselor to send my youngest daughter to (pending standard visitation orders with her father due to emotional abuse). My very first impression should have been what I went with (goofy, school-girl type personality...definitely not a "professional"). But, I reconsidered, thinking maybe those qualities would actually make for good bonding. After screening her & asking what her religious views were -because I wanted a Christian leading my daughter towards a healthy forgiveness to begin healing- she sloughed everything off that was told to her in sessions with..."Oh, this is so much easier with you being a Christian!" Really? She's using that as her base-line strategy for a 13 year old girl needing direction..."just forgive and be a good daughter even though he doesn't deserve it?" (yes, that is in quotes because that is exactly what she repeated over and over, per my daughter after this all came to light & the confidentiality was broken…she just shared all this with me while we’re all spinning with wonder of ~IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING?)
After 3 sessions and going nowhere, our last appt was in the evening. The oldest daughter asked to go and see the counselor that was confusing her little sister. Ms. Brown agreed to let her sit in for her questions -briefly- and I retreated, as the confidentiality level was very important for the youngest to feel safe in. The 15 minutes with them both in there was not pleasant, from what I hear. Ms. Brown argued with the older daughter (15 yrs old) & she left very upset.
The youngest finished her last session but did not want to return for anymore counseling...she had reached a point she just felt like space was her best chance of healing & each session left her more confused and angry. Thinking those sessions (ALL of them) were confidential, she left it ALL there.
To our disbelief, this counselor called the father this is all regarding and told him EVERYTHING the oldest had discussed with Ms. Brown & her sister behind closed doors. Now, not only is one child estranged from her father, but the oldest suffered a wrath of emotional turmoil (without expecting it, I might add) that was never supposed to happen when her father blatantly confronted her with questions regarding her statements and questions w/Jennifer at his last visitation!! How can a counselor do that? Now, though they both need a confidante, they'll never trust a "counselor" again!!
Jennifer Brown is what I first thought of her...goofy, school-girl type NON-professional who got her feelings hurt or felt insulted from a 15 yr olds questions of intent with her sister & ran to "tattle" to cause more problems in an already broken family that she was supposed to help repair.
She is a pathetic excuse for representation in our "hope of healing".
