Never go to this place. I only went here because this is the provider that the lady who had my chihuahua had. So, I wanted continued care with a provider who was familiar with him. He was a regular patient of Dr Howard's for seven years. Timely checkups ect. Then my baby was attacked by another animal. Critically injured, I took him to his vet...the one who he has seen all his life. He was turned away because we didn't have an appointment. I explained that he was injured with him limp and bleeding in my arms. I was told that because it was lunch time they would " work him in after lunch if I wanted to make an appointment, but it would also be an emergency fee". I stated he is a regular patient here and can you not see how hurt he is? Again I was told that an appointment would have to be made for him to be seen. I left disgusted and in disbelief how very little they actually cared about his suffering. I went to Albemarle Animal Clinic as a plea for help. Dr Griffin and his staff were caring and took him right in to be seen and didn't even charge an emergency fee (which honestly I would have happily paid if my baby could be seen). Hemi, my chihuahua had a fractured rib and a punctured lung. Unfortunately he passed away about 12 hours later, but what really upset me is that his regular doctor, Dr Howard from Fairview Veternary would turn his broken, bleeding body away like they did because it was lunch time and we had no appointment. Do not rely on this place. They will not be there for you when you need them, only when it is convenient for them.

Review their boarding policy closely. If drop-off prior to their 1:30 posted check-in time they bill you for an extra day. All other vets in region and all I've ever boarded with, bill by the night. I politely asked for consideration on these extra charges, and was rudely told by the vet that "this isn't a hotel, and not sure why nobody understands that policy". So if you check into a hotel 2 hours before their posted check-in time, should you expect to pay for the night before? Was also given a prescription and told to fill it locally at any pharmacy. After spending considerable time trying to get it filled, was told by pharmacies that they did not carry it, could not order it, and it was the wrong strength for any human pharmacy to fill. Needless to say, my pets are now very happy with their new vet, prescription filled on site, and the very flexible schedules available at their new pet hotel (and oh, at a less expensive fee as well.)

Was this provider argumentative or easily angered?
Not at all, they were one of the kindest, most attentive individuals I've ever met
