I would not refer Caring Hospice ever to anyone. We chose them because they offered 7 day a week care for 2 hours a day aide help. We had a live in aide for my father who was in his final month of life. The aides they provided were late, lazy, some didn't speak english and basically could not take any direction so just sat there. I spent more time on the phone trying to get an appropriate aide instead of spending quality time with my father. The nurses all had different opinions as to how to manage pain care. He was on the lowest dose of morphine his final week and laid there awake gasping for air. I had to fight with the nurse to approve more morphine which his aide was administering. One night I told the aide to rest we would take over when was his last dose, she said oh we aren't giving him morphine anymore he is comfortable the nurse said to stop. my dad had a stroke and could not move or speak. I said blink your eyes if you have pain and he blinked his eyes. the nurse said they do that sometime. So another of the many calls to the triage nurse who said of course give him more meds. This agency was horrible, caused me more stress and now that my father has passed I keep apologizing to him that his end of life care was not smoother. I feel so gilty and horrible. Hospice is supposed to make this time easier on the one passing.... poor judgement, mixed messages for home care, aides that always left early and were lazy, made this an awful experience. The nurses were not fast to respond to home visits... We waited for a nurse to come for 2 hours after my dad passed. I will say one office worker was very nice, and the chaplain was wonderful. I will regret using this agency for the rest of my life.
