Faced with putting a loved one in hospice again, I'd look somewhere else. It all sounded good, but the rubber didn't really meet the road...for SOME of the care. The REGULAR nurse was compassionate and caring. The two men who delivered and picked up equipment were always courteous, careful and considerate, never bumping anything into furniture, walls or doorways! On at least two occasions, the ball for orders for medical equipment and CNA support for patient care was dropped. You are supposed to have a nurse at your disposal within 45 minutes, but when we called at approximately 6 a.m., the nurse determined on the phone that the "dying process" had started and rather than come out and verify it and support us, talked us into waiting until 9:30 a.m., when we could get the other family members there; then showed up almost 45 minutes late. The nurse never checked vitals and seemed emotionally disconnected from those who were there. An oxygen machine had been in use, which included a humidifier, and it was obvious our loved one had lungs FULL of liquid and under respiratory distress. When asked if the humidifier could be the source of the liquid in the lungs, the response was, "No". We insisted that the humidifier be removed....and within hours, the liquid in the lungs cleared and respiratory distress subsided. Until then, we all watched and listened to this for hours, all being traumatized. We were told our loved one could not hear or comprehend because there wasn't enough oxygen support for the brain, yet our loved one responded with tears to recognizable family voices, even reaching out with their arms to the voice of a beloved granddaughter. When our loved ones life finally ended, the same nurse returned to verify death, gave no compassion, was all business then packed up, said, "Sorry for your loss. God Bless.", while walking towards the door and went home.

They were by far one of the best I've ever seen in their field. It was obvious that they knew what to do every step of the way. The hospice was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it as it is part of the hospital. The nurses and aids were always helpful and they always went the extra mile to make my mother feel cared for. My experience while my mother was in the hospice was helped by the extremely friendly and supportive caretakers. They were so great and always there for my mother and my family whenever I needed them to be. I love that they are always more than happy to answer my questions, and actually welcome questions.
