I can confidently declare that I have had a very fulfilling and rewarding career. I will state that my training really never ceased.Indeed, I have learned so much more over the years and I mean not only from attending continuing medical education lectures or courses offered in numerous live or phone seminars/conferences and/ or, webinars. e Mostly I learned a lot from my patients, especially those who have come with particular challenges or nuances that made me want to research more to be of optimal help to them;particularly those with history of treatment refractory psychiatric conditions.
Having treated thousands of patients in all settings and various levels of care (Inpatient, Outpatient and Day Hospital), I quickly learned that the familiar and conventional medicine, in which I was trained (sadly,so in too many cases) failed to bring total at times even partial healing to too many of the suffering.
As I have continuously educated myself (out of necessity I might add) about many of the effective complementary treatments backed by evidence-based studies, and as I have afterwards incorporated those in my practice (i.e. combining standard and complementary treatments), I have watched amazing recoveries of my very appreciative patients. In fact, many of their suffering loved ones also have been helped in the process when they,too employed some of the remedies that my patients learned from me. After my postgraduate residency training in General Psychiatry at SUNY affiliated facility in Long Island, New York, I underwent further training as a fellow in Geriatric Psychiatry at Georgetown University Hospital Medical Center. Then I stayed on for another year as Clinical Instructor at GU, as I was building my clinical practice.I can confidently declare that I have had a very fulfilling and rewarding career.
