**This Rating Concerns Their Rehab Program, Not the Nursing Home Facility**

White Acres has a rehab facility on the property that contracts with local hospitals to rehab patients after surgeries or traumas. Their rehab facility has rooms in it, where patients stay. My elderly mother who had intestinal surgery was discharged from the hospital to White Acres. In setting up her stay there, I spoke to the young woman in charge of admissions, who never volunteered to me that they had no remaining rooms left in the rehab wing. When my mother was taken there, they put her in the nursing home area, in a room the size of a closet. No TV and no guard rails on the bed (bed pushed up against the wall on one side, presumably to prevent someone falling off on THAT side). After just getting there, a nurse walks in and proceeds to change my mother's diaper, in front of a group of people in the room (which included my brother and my mother's care giver). Very dehumanizing for my mother. She only stayed there 8 hours and was readmitted to the hospital because of pain issues. So, all in all, we were not told the truth. When they say they can accept someone, that does not mean they have a vacancy and a room available in their rehab facility. We will not do business with people like this that have these kind of ethics.
My mother is now going to Monte Vista (which we have not had a good experience with when my Dad was there). There are not a lot of good choices for rehab facilities in El Paso!

My Mother was with White Acres. They were ok a few years ago, but have gone down hill. They are always asking the elderly for more money as a donation and I feel they guilt these people into giving more than they should. (They pay rent...why do these people need more?)
The apartments are becoming rundown, parking is a problem, and the food has gotten worse in the past few years. When I cleaned out my mothers apartment, I found it had not been really cleaned since she moved in. The house keepers were not very good.
If I were you, find another place for your loved ones!
