This facility has plummeted in staff, attentiveness to residents, meeting basic needs of residents and all over making this facility a safe place for anyone in their care. When this facility was owned by Steuben County it was a very pleasant place to be. Staff were most of the time upbeat and there was an abundance of staff. Now patients have to wait for lengthy periods to either go to the bathroom or have someone come to take them off the commode. There are never enough staff on to efficiently and effectively properly take care of the residents. Most all the time there are residents just wandering because they have nothing to do. They have very little in the way of recreation for the residents. Maybe 1 sometimes 2 activities a day. Almost nothing at night unless a group comes in to sing. It is pathetic seeing these people sit and cry because they are scarred and alone. I witnessed the Director of Nursing walking away from a patient with Alzheimer's.The patient was crying and begging to go home. The Director of nursing patted her on the shoulder and just said, "Oh it will be alright." then walked away leaving the patient in hysteria. When approaching administration of ongoing issues the answer you get is, "we are working on it". Well working on it is not working because things have not been addressed or fixed. This is a facility that has a great physical appearance but as far as care and protection of your loved one it sadly lacks all. Avoid this facility at all cost.

I would have to agree with justme222. I just recently visited a relative at this facility. It's a @#%$ shame that a unit manager can have no respect for the elderly. "When it's bedtime, it does not matter what their dignity is. It goes out the window anyways." This is what she has said. If she has no respect for the elderly then she shouldn't be there. Hopefully she does end up in the care of someone like her when she can't take care of herself. If she is a unit manager, how come she doesn't take the time to make sure that some of the elderly that has oxygen is turned on. A lot is going on there and it seems that the county or even the state ain't doing anything to pull the bad seeds (employees) out of there. They are just a head count.
