My brother Jeffery is severly mentally retarded and has been at Rainbow for a number of years. They are his family and we could tell everytime we were there that they love him and he loves them. It is is home.

My Mother lived with the guilt of not having her son with her (Jeff was put in Enid State School when he was only 5) but after he was transfered to Rainbow and I took her to visit him I could tell you she was relieved to know he was happy and at home with everyone there.

The staff there is GREAT, they would send cards to my Mother from Jeff throughout the year and those card made her day when she received them Especially Donna, she was there multiple times when we would visit.

On our Mother's death bed (she died of cancer in 2002) her concern was Jeff I made her a promise I would be the one to make sure Jeff was taken care of, the nursing home helped me become his legal gardian so I could get information about him whenever he was hospitalized.
When I made the next visit to him after our Mother had died, when I walked into the nursing home and saw Jeff I brokedown and it was Donna who comforted me until I was able to regain my composure.

I now deal with Sheila and once again she is so comforting. It is hard when I think that Jeff does not know us, we were so absent from his life (Dad was inthe military and we moved all around the United States - that was the hardest for my Mother) but it warms my heart to know there is a staff that is a stable staff and Jeff does know them and loves them as his family.

The Rainbow Staff is EXCELLENT and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
