My sister & I visited Mayflower Gardens simply to tour the facility & see what they were like as our elderly mother broke her hip & needed a skilled nursing facility (SNF) simply for short-term rehab. When we arrived, Cheryl Taylor, the Admin. Coordinator Social Services refused to give us a tour & told us to walk around the facility & then see her afterward if we had any questions. We toured the facility meet with Cheryl & mentioned we didn't see a designated therapy room. She said they conducted therapy in the patients room or in the hallway....REALLY???? She asked about our mom, her name what hospital she was in, etc. I foolishly gave Cheryl that information, but specifically told her we hadn't decided on a facility & were just getting info. She said they didn't have any available beds, she just wanted that info for their files &that they wouldn't do anything with the info. Imagine our surprise when the next day, as Mom was being discharged, we were told that Cheryl had called the hosp. & said we wanted Mom transported to Mayflower Gardens SNF ! We quickly informed the hosp. That wasn't true. The next day we went to Mayflower Gardens & calmly & professionally told Cheryl we didn't appreciate what she had done, that she had over-stepped her boundaries & her actions where very unethical. She denied giving the hosp that info. Denied telling me they had no available beds &accused me of treating her with animosity. I assured her I was not treating her with animosity, but was letting her know that she was completely out of line! Warning to anyone her "views" that facility. . .DO NOT give them any info until you are sure you want your loved one to be transported there! Actually I would stay as far away from there as possible!
