If you are not an active participant in your loved ones care like I am, you would not be satisfied with the care of other residents that I observe. I take care of issues that arise for my parent but phone calls do not get returned as well as follow ups from doctor to nursing supervisor then back to me. I get sick of being left out of the loop so I take my complaints to a higher authority.
The food is terrible and my parent is often left neglected at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Aides do not seem to care if trays are set up properly. People like my parent with dementia because of the inability to say something don't know any different, but I do. The dietician works with residents and families. She is excellent and advocates for the nutritional needs of the person.
My parent's personal hygiene is not acceptable. Taking the time to toilet, brush hair or help to brush teeth, put socks on or even a bra does not get done. Aides are not watching for patient lights; too busy talking in halls. .People often cry for help that falls on deaf ears. The amount of turnover there is unbelievable. I have to explain my parent's needs (that is supposed to be on print out) to new staff. Aides there are not paid enough to make a living wage so it is the patients who are getting short changed.
If you want your loved ones to live the rest of their lives out with dignity, this is not the place you want to put them. I am looking forward to moving my parent to a facility that will respect health needs as a person and not as a room number.
My rating of 2.5 stars reflects the administrator because he is one person I know there who is trying to do right for all residents and the dietician gets the second star. The other half star is for SOME nurses and nursing supervisors.I have lost faith and trust with the rest. I don't care for their snippy attitudes and their faking of sincerity.
CNA's and Aides can do a better job. They need to stop talking to each other and work for the patients who need their help.
Activities dep't is good, not great. It can be run much better and get more people out of their rooms to enjoy what time they have left.

Sadly I had to experience this poorly run facility when a parent needed services. Within a few short days, I observed first hand the inattentiveness, staff playing with Smart Phones, place often was unorganized and inept, patients having to wait long periods of time before anyone responded, some of the food was either inappropriate for patient, missing altogether or generally looked disgusting, lack of staff on floor and just the whole negative vibe that one gets when you visit for any length of time. This place rakes in the money but seeming has put little into the facility to make it any better since the days when it was the Infirmary. Private ownership doesn't always transcend into quality but I guarantee that the C.E.O and top people aren't living like the patients at Fulton Center. It's sad when I talked to employees that there are gripes from them about how it is understaffed. Things like this lead to improper care and patient suffering. My only compliment would be about SOME of the staff who were genuinely friendly and seemed to care.. Don't be fooled by the public relations advertising, the fancy website or the drivel that is shoveled out when you happen to call this place. My recommendation would be that if you LOVE your loved one, seriously consider another facility. 1 star is all this place deserves.
