I was only there one time to visit my wife's aunt and uncle and I was shocked at the low level of care, incompetence, and neglect, as well as by the palpable stench. My wife's uncle was very unhappy and told us the food was terrible. He also told us that he had not made any friends there. We had a question about my uncle and it took a long time before we could even get a staff member's attention to ask. When we went to see my wife's Aunt it was even worse. She was obviously thirsty and was in pain and moaning loudly. There was a cup of water out of reach with a straw which we tried to get her to drink but she was not able to drink it. We were in her room almost an hour and no one came by until we flagged down an orderly from the hall. We expressed concern about her being thirsty and the orderly said she would tell the nurse and that the nurse would come see us in the room. She never did. We also asked the orderly if they used a sponge or swab to get moisture to patients that were having trouble drinking and she got a confused look on her face and said no she had never heard of that. We had to go to the nurse's station to finally talk to the nurse. She was in the restroom and we had to wait almost 15 minutes. When she came out she was polite but seemed completely unconcerned when we said my wife's aunt was thirsty and appeared dehydrated. She said they did swab their mouths "regularly" but did not provide any more information or indicate it on her chart. She volunteered that my wife's uncle, who was in another wing, seemed very happy, and had made friends with another patient there, and was doing very well. When we said that we had just seen him and had a different impression, she got an embarassed look on her face as though she realized her usual spin was not going to work with us. She thanked us and made clear that was the end of the conversation. Everyone other patient we observed also appeared miserable. I would never in a million years recommend this place to anyone. My wife's relatives both died in this nursing home about a week later.
