I was diagnosed with Bi-Polar in Dec., 1977. Dr. Corke was recommended to me by a Psychologist . Having severe highs & lows Dr. Corke did level my Mood swings with lithium. Lithium is supposed to be monitored regularly because if left on it too long, it can cause kidney damage. Everything was ok for about 20 yrs. Then my PRIMARY doctor discovered I had 3rd degree kidney damage. Dr. Corke did not check my lithium level often enough to know when I should have been taken off lithium. I had to tell HER I had kidney damage. OK. she took me off of lithium (after the fact) & put me on depacote. I went thru all of the symptems of my highs & lows again. After starting depacote I continually had depression & started losing my balance. This continued for 2 years. I told her about my balance & thought it started after I started taking dapecote. She insisted it was NOT the depacote. SHE WOULD NOT LISTEN! "I'm the doctor & I know best!" I continued losing my balance until I was on a walker. She says, "See a Nurologist for your balance. I did & the nurologist listened & worked with me - weening me off depacote while adding seraquel. Would you believe my balance begin to improve!? When we told Dr. Corke my nurologist was weening me off depacote while adding serquel, her reaction? "Well,I was going to take you off depacote (she had never mentioned anything about it) After being with Dr. Corke for 30 yrs., she says "WELL, I guess i'm goint to release you That was the best thing she ever did - release me. I have never looked back. All she did was med checks, adjusting them here & there & never got me anywhere. With the help of my nurologist & therapy my balance is now 100% back. Dr. Corke's motto - "My way or the highway" I would NEVER recommend her to anyone!
