I was very impressed with Dr. Della Rosa and his sleep facility when he was located in Forty Fort. Now he has moved to Geisinger Hospital in Wilkes-Barre. Seems like a BIG step Down. The hospital is old, dingy and dirty looking. I have to wonder what the actual sleep test rooms are like now. I was also disappointed that for the first time in years, I did not get to see Dr. Della Rosa, but instead saw a physician's assistant who was very nice but did not seem like a medical professional. The old office was easy to get to from the route 81. Now I have to travel further into Wilkes-Barre and go through downtown and find parking in a parking deck (at least it was free), instead of the ample parking lot that was just outside of the old office. I have a lot of health issues and it was difficult walking the extra distance from the parking lot and then navigating my way through the maze of the hospital. I'm actually considering finding another sleep center. I have moved to Scranton but was happy to travel back to W.B. for the excellent care I received before. Not so happy now.

The staff is friendly during the day, but the Sleep Center Staff is limited at night since they don't have receptionists. The Sleep Center is the only one in the area listed as accredited by The Academy of Sleep Medicine, which is good. Since the sleep lab technicians have more than one patient to care for, I had to wait about 15 minutes alone at night before I was greeted. The technician was friendly but put her needs over the patient (she was tired in the morning, too), and I didn't have adequate time to wash before or after the sleep exam. The sleep center seemed like it might have been affected by the Agnes flood, as I smelled mold/mildew which negatively affected my sleep. I felt like my needs were mostly met by the office staff during the day, but they were limited at night. It was pretty hard to find the building, but I eventually found it. I am returning to discuss results and have a neurological exam. Dr. Della Rosa seemed very nice, and it didn't take long to see him. The first exam focused on sleep apnea testing, and the next will be neurologically focused. I did get results right away that I did not have sleep apnea; however, I need to find out if I have any other type of sleep disorder since I did not get a sound sleep. MyGeisinger is great because it allows you to easily communicate with your doctor.
