I suppose if you are a typical person with no major medical issues Dr. Saltzman would be a fairly good physician. BUT - If you have many ongoing and complicated health issues you should avoid seeing Saltzman at all cost. He is not interested in treating patients for anything other than the most benign of illnesses. I am not such a patient.

After my family doctor left private practice I had to find a new doctor. So I called Saltzman for an appointment. The first visit went OK. He did not spend much time with me which I was unhappy with since I was a new patient with, like I said, complicated medical issues. On my second (and last) visit he absolutely refused to continue to prescribe certain medications that my former doctor had no problem prescribing for me. Obviously I am talking about pain medications. He flat out refused to even consider it even after receiving my medical records from my prior physician. I am not a drug addict. I am not taking my pain medication in any way other than it was prescribed. Even after reassurance from my former doctor that I was not a "drug seeker" and did not abuse my medications, Saltzman still said no. My former doctor was my doctor for over 30 years (since I was a child) so he knows me very well.

In between my first and second visits with Saltzman my husband saw him because he was also a patient of my prior doctor. Check this out: To add insult to injury, Saltzman prescribed my husband one of the very medications he refused to prescribe me. Seems very sexist to me and reinforces the research reports that have found male doctors take the health of other men much more seriously than they do women. Women are considered to be emotionally unstable and to exaggerate just how serious their health problems really are.

Shortly after my second disastrous visit with Saltzman I received a letter in the mail from him stating that he would no longer provide medical care to me other than "emergency care" for 30 days. Classy guy, isn't he?

My suggestion is if you need a new doctor for whatever the reason steer clear of Saltzman unless you are male or extremely healthy.
