Dr. Fellenbaum was very rude to my mother who had cataract surgery performed by him. He failed to communicate clearly with her, then got annoyed when she had to ask him to repeat himself because she didn't hear or understand what he said. He also intimidated her by stating that he wouldn't recommend she have the laser "clean-up" surgery she had come to his office for despite the fact she had already been prepped with eye drops by the nurse, and no good reason was given. There was no explanation given by the doctor as to why he advised against the laser clean-up other than he was annoyed my mother hadn't gone to get glasses yet (why would she, when the laser clean-up was supposed to improve her vision?). Also, she had asked about macular degeneration, and Dr. Fellenbaum recommended she see a retina specialist. This should not have prevented the laser clean-up from the cataract surgery, because Dr. F never mentioned it until my mother asked about it. This greatly upset my mother, who is in her mid-80s. She was intimidated into not getting the medical treatment she needed and had come to the office to get. I think this behavior toward an elderly woman in her 80s is inexcusable and, frankly, mean. Dr. F is a bully in our book.
