I need knee replacements & looked foreward to seeing Dr. Austin.
Dr Austin, with his higher than thou attitude, refused to see my prior records of 10 years, with another local surgeon, who retired. That to me was mistake number one.
Than he took X-rays & became obnoxious to me...saying he cannot do surgery on me. I asked why?? He said I need to lose weight first. I am 50 lbs. overweight, but that does not disqualify me from surgery. Mistake number two.
Than I asked for the 3 prescriptions that I have been taking for years.
He refused two of them. None are narcotics at all.
Than he asked me if I smoke. I said sometimes. He said he smelled it & was obnoxious about it. I have since quit smoking, for me, not because of him.
I have never ever been treated this way by any doctor in my life.

I am not lower class..(I can't imagine how he treats those who are) I have great insurance & I am very personable & stylish.
There is NO reason for him to act like he did. None.

Recently, my co-worker went to Dr Austin. He had prior knee surgery that he had done by another surgeon, elsewhere, a year earlier & it was very painful. I told him not to go to Dr. Austin but he did. Dr Austin did NOT take xrays..he just looked at his knee & guessed that it would be okay in time...it's not. Than he left the room....the visit was over in 2 minutes. He also refused to see the records that he brought with him, like he did to me.
My friend is so upset with Dr. Austin & will never go back there & neither will I.
