In my opinion he's the only doctor they ever had that was worth anything in Hastings Nebraska. I've lived here most part of 52 years. Probably why he's not here any more he was way too good for this place. When he was here I recommended several people to him and they were all very happy.

Dr. Van Metre was an awesome doctor when I lived in Hastings. He was very caring. He also made me realize in his own caring way that I drank too much. Needless to say, because of Dr. Van Metre asking me twice if I felt I drank to much, it made me realize I needed to stop. I have been sober for over 11 years. Dr. van Metre could tell by my liver functions that I drank to much. After that comment he said to me, I woke up one morning and said no more. I thank Dr. Van Metre for addressing that topic with me. if it was not for Dr. Van Metre, I may be an heavy drinker today.
