I completely disagree with what you said here. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. De Marco. He was great to work with and understanding. He was efficient and kind. You could tell he had a great amount of experience. Not a "malicious human being" at all. I found your review very unhelpful if I could I would give your comment zero stars.

I haven't seen Dr. DeMarco in his office; he has a second job as a "medical expert" and testifies at Social Security Disability hearings for the Office of Hearings and Appeals. He's a real piece of work, let me tell you. The process of obtaining benefits via SSDI is absolutely grueling - and would be so for a healthy person, much less a terribly debilitated one! After waiting literally YEARS to get a hearing (which is standard procedure), I appeared before the Administrative Law Judge with a binder six inches thick with all of the medical records I'd accumulated since becoming sick at age 19. I had seen some of the top specialists in the country, including some at Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins University, among others. I had documentation from ALL of them - and I'd seen between two and three dozen different specialists by then. I also had documentation from my primary care physician, who had been with me through the previous several years of my illness, and knew me and my situation inside and out. The decision of those doctors was unanimous - I was disabled, no ifs ands, or buts. It simply couldn't be disputed. I was almost completely bedridden and had been for years.

Dr. DeMarco had supposedly read all of the many hundreds of pages of medical documentation I’d provided, but had never so much as laid eyes on me. This man started testifying and the things that he said about me and my condition were just absolutely FLABBERGASTING. It was as though he’d not read a single page of any of the letters that doctors who had actually examined me had written on my behalf. It was as if he came into the hearing room with the belief that anyone and everyone who files a disability claim is a liar, a lazy person looking to scam the system. He just sat there, under oath, and told lie after lie after lie about me. It’s been many years since the hearing, so thankfully the memory has faded with time, but one example: he testified that I could work full time and would only miss a day or two of work per month because of my illness. I was BEDRIDDEN, for God’s sake! It was just unthinkable to me. My mom was present at the hearing and she just wanted to throttle the guy. It was all just so surreal. I’ve never seen such a despicable abuse of power in all of my life.

There is no way for me to convey how critical it was to my life that I obtain SSDI benefits. I was young and single, and had not a nickel to my name. I was living in abject poverty. My foreseeable future all depended on this one little meeting, and this man came at me like a bulldozer.

I need to explain that I’d been a bright, vibrant young lady before I became ill; I was going places. I had a 4.0 GPA in college and was desperately hoping that I would be able to get well enough to do post-graduate work, perhaps becoming a medical doctor myself someday. I wasn’t AT ALL the kind of person who was just looking for a handout, and I’m completely comfortable that anyone around me for a minute or two would easily see the truth. Believe me, there is no great joy at living on SSDI benefits. After my health insurance premium is paid every month, I am left with less than $200 to live on. I STILL live in abject poverty. I’d give my eyeteeth and a few limbs to be able to work, you know? Literally. I literally would.

Anyway, much to my relief, the judge saw me for who I really am, and while all of Dr. DeMarco’s horrific deceptions went on the record, the judge still saw fit to provide me with the SSDI benefits that I so clearly deserved.

This man has ice in his veins. I can’t urge you strongly enough to find a different doctor. If I could give him zero stars, I would. This malicious human being is a disgrace to his profession.
