I saw the young Dr. Dinello for TMJ pain, nothing that serious. I'm sure other patients were there for more serious problems. Dr. Dinello prescribed an orthotic splint which has helped a lot. He has a very casual interpersonal style, which put me at eace, but I'd have to say doesn't seem as professional as other providers. Yet, his concern came across as genuine and eager to help. Because of a past negative experience with another well-respected oral surgeon, I had reservations about trying the splint at first. Dr. Dinello strongly encouraged me to try it anyway, to the extent that he told me he would absorb the cost himself it it didn't work. He was right, -- it worked. I can't speak to his surgical abilities which is what most people need to know about, but I can say he helped me a lot, and showed almost excessive concern, which was maybe what I needed to convince me I needed to follow through on his recommended treatment. We saw the news stories about the substance abuse issue. I was really sorry to hear he had gotten himself into trouble. Maybe his impulsive urge to help someone got him into trouble? I don't believe he is a bad man. Hopefully there will be a way for him to address his problem (maybe he has a touch of adult ADHD. Just guessing.), and correct it . He helped me a lot, so I hate to see him having serious problems.
