I used this dentist for about a year, and finally gave up. He tries to squeeze as much money out of you as he possibly could, even if it involves lying with a straight face.

In the last visit (which lasted for about 40 minutes for both myself and my wife), and involved only regular cleaning, we had a clear conversation right before the cleaning that he will only perform the regular cleaning that was fully covered by my insurance. When we were ready to leave, his staff asked me to pay $500 on top of what the insurance was paying them (another $600) saying that they have done something "special". I was pissed because we paid them another $500 just a month before for some other "special" cleaning, and I had a clear conversation with the doctor this time that he will only do what's fully covered by the insurance.

When I asked his staff to call the doctor, and reminded him of our conversation half an hour ago, he said that no such conversation happened with a straight face!

I am not sure how reasonable it is to expect $1100 for spending 40 minutes with 2 patients, with fairly healthy tooth?
