So everything started two years ago when my husband and I tried to have our first baby. At the six week mark I had my first miscarriage. My OB said that sometimes it happens and that we should just try again when ready. A few months later we tried again and the same thing happened, miscarriage at 6 weeks. He recommended that we go see a specialist and recommended Dr Hamersley. This is where my nightmare begins. She ran some blood work and decided that because I have a gene that’s related to a blood clotting disorder called MTHFR that it must be causing the miscarriages. She then told me that I had to start taking a blood thinner called Lovenox twice a day. This was via a needle that I had to self inject. After three months my husband and I tried to have another baby and the same exact thing happened at six weeks. She reassured us that this was the reason so I continued to take the Lovenox, which cost $3000 a month, thank god my insurance covered most of it. We continued this routine another two times now accounting for 5 miscarriages total. Because my husband wanted to leave his job we decided to move out of state and figured that we would see another specialist and get another opinion. This woman sat down with us and after looking at my history for five minutes decided that a dye test would reveal why the baby stops at 6 weeks. Within two days I had the test done and found out that I had scar tissue that was blocking the baby. This woman fixed my problem in 5 minutes and Dr Hamersley only wanted to try her blood thinner because she said that she was published and she knew a lot about this decease. One month after having the scar tissue removed I got pregnant and nine months later welcomed my son. It makes me so angry that for two years I had to go through all these miscarriages. Dr Hamersley never even spent the time trying to diagnose the problem, she just assumed that it had to be a blood clot. What you made me go through should be a crime!
