Dr Reed Winston was my mother's doctor for over 2 years. She went to him many times complaining of severe pain in her upper abdomen and diagnosed as scurviest because he said he saw a rash somewhere on her abdomen. She was also diagnosed with diabetes. Her glucose levels were very high and she was prescribed insulin. She was not able to keep her sugar level under 200, even with a controlled diet, and the prescribe dose of insulin she was taking twice a day. (the good doctor never increased her dosage!) Mom continued to visit Dr. Winston with no improvement .
When the pain continued to get worse, then after a year, he then decided she had hepatitis, but could not tell her which form. She was prescribed pain medication, and sent home. Two days later my brother took her to Sinai emergency , where a sonogram was done , it was found out that she has a very large tumor and was in level three Panceratic cancer. I took my mother for a follow up visit to Dr. Winston per the advice of Sinai hospital .We asked him if he had received the report from the hospital , which he answeres yes, and we also requested stronger medication than the 5 milagrams of oxycodone he had previously prescribed. He then wrote a prescription for 15 miligram tablet of morphene , which the pharmacy could not fill, because it did not exsist! At that point my mother had only nintey days of life left. After her death I was able to review her medical records, and found that on some visit, that her insurance company was charged for, he never filled out the reason for the visit or any other diagnoses other that stomach pain.
