I was a patient of Dr. James Garvin. I needed a root canal. He told me he could take care of it. He had me in his office numerous times working on the tooth. After all these visits, for which I paid, he told me he could not save the tooth, had to remove it and I needed a bridge. If he had sent me to an expert initially, I would still have my tooth and no bridge. I have had one other root canal since, went to an expert who after one visit, solved the problem. I wish had never met this person. If he can't do the job, he should admit it and refer to someone who knows what they are doing. He acted arrogant as did his office help when I questioned them.

I travel 35 miles to have Dr. Patrick Garvin handle my dental needs. As a prosthodontist he is first-rate -or even better. I give him an unqualified endorsement. He is fine with regular dental maintenance, too, as is his son, James, who works with him. The nurses, hygienists, and office staff are also superb, competent, and friendly. I have been making that drive to him for almost 30 years, so it has to be serious. He saved me from some rather costly but unnecessary work that a Chicago dentist recommended.
