They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is very friendly and professional. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. My surgery went really well and I can now breathe through my nose as I should. Dr. Phillips is a outstanding Dr. who truly cares for each patient and takes the time to explain exactly what is going on and what should be expected before and after surgery. Doc gets an A+ in my book!

I went to see a "specialist" in Greensboro, NC in 2000 right before moving up to Indiana, and ignored his advise to just "have it out because it's big", and then saw a pretty good general Endocrinologist up there for several years for observation (Dr Behn - also very good). When Dr. Behn finally explained that it had grown big enough to consider surgery (for reasons he explained thoroughly... it was pressing on my windpipe and had developed new nodules in a short amount of time, which was a risk), he sent me to Dr. Phillips. In the few visits I had, he proved to be friendly, easy to get along with, very informative about my options and the risks involved, and thorough about how he proceeded with diagnoses and treatment. I finally had it out in 2010 (10 years after initially seeing someone about it), and although I obviously had to recover from the surgery, I had absolutely no issues with my voice (spoke clearly as soon as I recovered from anesthesia) or my parathyroids (calcium levels were and still are normal), both of which are the biggest concerns in this type of surgery. Any surgeon COULD have a complication, and I accepted that risk. Nonetheless, mine went wonderfully, and I appreciate his attention and skill now, months after the surgery, even more than I did when I first got out.

I want to clarify my "wait time" response... I did actually have to wait sometimes, even half an hour sometimes after getting brought into the exam room. However it was clear (from hearing him down the hall) that he was paying close attention to his other patients, too, and sometimes this meant being a bit late. The attention I got, and the surgical success that ultimately followed, was more than I could have ever hoped for. The hospital staff was amazing, and the surgery was (as far as I can say) flawless, with a reasonably stress-free recovery.

If you're going to have this work done in the Bloomington/Indiana area, please seriously considering seeing this guy. He's a regular Joe who knows what the hell he's doing, and quite honestly, with doctors, it's hard to find that.
