This practice is "jiffy lube" for teeth - assembly line. I recently moved to St. Pete and received a coupon for Klement Dental in the mail. I arrived on time and was seen promptly. The technician took a full set of x-rays and although I didn't have an appointment for one - the hygienist performed a cleaning, which was due. Both the dental tech and hygienist were adequate. Dr. Daniel performed an exam and I was told I would need extensive work - crowns. A billing specialist came in with a detailed report and my expected co-pay after insurance. Although my questions were answered, I felt pressured and rushed to get the work done that day. I informed the staff that I would call back for an appointment and would need to schedule the work out over time. When I called back to make the appointment, the front desk told me I would have to pay my $500+ portion up front before they would even schedule me. I told them I would bring $500 cash to my appointment and did not feel comfortable paying cash up front before services were rendered. The scheduler insisted I put it on a credit card that day or drop off a check. I stated that, as a customer, I felt that inconvenienced me and I didn't understand why I couldn't just pay cash at time of services. Again, I stated that I was uncomfortable and questioned the legality of being asked to pay up front.. I offered, again, to pay cash at the start of my appointment. The scheduler (rude and impatient at this point) put me on hold so she could check with the business manager. She returned to the phone and refused to make the appointment.. I'm a businesswomen and this didn't make sense. "You're practice is willing to lose $1500 cash in co-pays, plus my insurance payment, a 2nd cleaning and the business brought in by my family because you won't let me pay CASH at time of appointment?" She hung up on me.
I have since found a new dentist. I tried to obtain my records - it took three requests
