I HAVE KNOWN DR. DECARDENAS FOR MANY YEARS HE WAS MY TEACHER IN MIDDLE SCHOOL EDISON PRIVATE . MY FATHER WENT TO HIM FIRST FOR INPLANTS THAT WAS A DISASTER THEN I WENT AND WAS TREATED VERY RUDE AND WAS CHARGE FOR HAVING THE NEED TO CANCEL MY APT. MY AUNT IN THE PAST HAVE TAKEN MY DAUGHTERS AND THINGS SEEMED OK. MY DAUGHTERS EXPRESSED TO ME HE WAS RUDE WITH THEM BUT SINCE THEY WERE YOUNGER I DID NOT PAY MIND TO THIS AND CONTINUED TO GO SINCE MY AUNT IS STILL HIS PATIENT. NOW MY DAUGHTERS ARE ADULTS AND WENT BACK TO HIM.
MY DAUGHTER HAD CAR TROUBLES THIS MORNING AND DID NOT MAKE THE APT ON TIME WHEN SHE CALLED THEY INFORMED HER TO FIND ANOTHER DENTIST AND JUST THE SAME THING THAT HAPPEND TO MARTYS62 HAPPEND TO US. WE HAVE VERY GOOD INSURANCE AND YES WE DO HAVE A DEDUCTIBLE AND HAVE NO PROBLEM PAYING FOR WHAT THE INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER. AM UPSET OF THE WAY THIS MAN TREATS HIS PATIENCES HE IS ARROGANT AND RUDE TO THEM AND I FEEL OTHER PATIENCE SHOULD KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT THE ONLY DENTIST IN MIAMI LAKES. YOU CAN FIND SOMEONE THAT IS GOOD NATURE AND HUMBLE AND TREATS PATIENCE WITH RESPECT AND UNDERSTANDING AND CARE . MY DAUGHTER CALLED AND WAS UPSET SHE WAS TOLD TO FIND ANOTHER DENTIST BECAUSE SHE DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE APT THAT HE SET ASIDE THOU I UNDERSTAND, HE SHOULD ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT PROBLEMS DO ARISE .SHE WAS ALSO TOLD ON THE LAST VISTI HER WISDOM TEETH HAD TO COME OUT AND SHE WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE OTHER DENTIS ANA MADERAL COZAD HAD DONE A BAD ROOT CANAL AND HE NEEDED TO RE-DO IT AGAIN. I DON'T TRUST ANYTHING THIS DENTIST SAY'S. I HOPE THAT BEFORE YOU GO TO THIS SO CALLED DENTIST YOU SHOULD DO A RESEARCH ON HIM AM SURE OTHERS FEEL THE SAME WAY AS WE DO. AND AM PUTTING OUT THERE FOR OTHERS TO SEE JUST HOW UNPROFESSIONAL HIS STAFF AND HIM ARE. AM DAUGHTER WILL NEVER HAVE TO SEE HIS FACE AGAIN.

According to Webster medical dictionary ethical is define as 1: conforming to accepted professional standards of conduct.

However, this is not what I experienced after my first patient visit to Dr. Cardenas' office. On several occeasion prior to my visit, I confirmed with his staff that I will not have out of pocket charges for the cleaning and check-up. When I arrived with my daughters, I once again ask to make sure that my entire visit was cover by my insurance. Dr. Cardenas' staff confirmed that everything was covered. We went through the cleaning and the check up. During the check up Dr. Cardenas recommended a deep cleaning, for myself and wisdom tooth removal. I asked for a estimate, which I got. As I was leaving, I was told there would be a charge for my cleaning. She explained that they did a different type of cleaning that was not cover my insurance; therefore, I had to pay for it. I was very upset and pay for it.I spoke with the Dr. Cardenas and express my concerns of being treat for a procedure without my knowledge or conscent.

The bottom line is that patients have the right to approve or disapprove procedure being done to them and it is not acceptable to perform a procedure without their knowledge. Now you decide if this was ethical or not. Knowledge is power hope this helps.
