If you must rely on insurance billing, either plan to keep an eye on every claim to ensure the filing deadline is met or you could end up like me--DEEP IN DEBT with insurance that was never billed correctly, resulting in paying premiums for unused insurance and being left out of pocket for dental care.

My experience? A family member treated there >1 year without issue prior to the problem. Went for two very expensive services back to back and the billing office said they billed my insurance. Trouble was, they never followed up on the unpaid claim, and the insurance co. said they never got the bills.

NO monthly statements were sent to let us know there was a balance pending with insurance, as they had done over the past year. The first communication from the dentist's office after the last 2 treatments was when they sent a demand for payment months later. I called to inquire as to the problem and why I had not received statements.

Asked for a write-off and was denied, reason being "our new patient paperwork clearly states patients are responsible for any bills insurance do not pay." Never mind the insurance company cannot pay bills they do not receive; dentist herself feels it is my fault for not following up with insurance carrier. Here's a patient who had a preapproved treatment plan telling the dentist how much of each service would be covered, and since the insurance was not filed timely, and since no statements were received that would warn us to follow up before the filing deadline, we ended up nearly $1,000 out of pocket.

No relief at all from speaking with the dentist herself---just a pay up or be turned in to collections attitude. Tried to reason with the dentist and got nowhere and so am making monthly payments for an alleged debt that NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED.
