After 17 years as a family physician in the Baycare Health System, I have started my own practice as a Direct Patient Care (DPC) physician. I work only for my patients, not insurance companies. My patients pay a low monthly membership fee ($40-50) and everything I do as their doctor is included. There are no co-pays or hidden additional costs. They make their own appointments online if they desire, for same day or any day. Appointments for well visits and the management of chronic conditions are 1 hour long. I do nontraditional visits such as phone visits or Skype visits, and am accessible 24/7 by cell phone, text message or email. Insurance is preferred to cover labs, xrays, medication, or visits to specialists or hospitalization. But for those without insurance I can help negotiate the maze of the healthcare system in a cost-effective way. Low cost options are available for many services for those without insurance.
