I has a very disturbing experience while being treated at Sarkis Family Psychiatry:
I began seeing Dr. Sarkis, who is easy to talk to and sympathetic, but I was placed on many medications (10-15 pills a night) that had me feeling miserable. Some of these medications were dangerous and addictive, and their effect on me was far more detrimental than what he described to me. Sarkis was so baffled by my issues, after many medication changes, that he had me see his associate, Dr. Johnson.
Dr. Johnson likewise gave me many medications that caused me to feel terrible. My diagnosis was changed three times, never with explanation. I was ill advised and wasted much time and money getting worse. I have heard from others that they feel as if Sarkis' practice is focused on prescribing you anything so you will come back.
After (almost) 10 years elsewhere, I have been correctly diagnosed. The staff is kind. I am self-pay and they give me an extremely fair discount, and samples when I have to try new medications. They are patient and saw me immediately when it was an emergency. I couldn't ask for more.
I never have to worry about them overbooking appointments. They definitely believe in quality over quantity here and it is much appreciated. Their office was well organized and clean. I could tell they took a lot of time making sure it was presentable. Time flew by while I was reading them. I had to wait a long time in the waiting room. I've had to wait longer at other places, but it was still too long. They are one of the most polite, respectful people I've ever met. As a patient for over 15 years, I am very happy and doing great. And really, 15 years that speaks volumes all by itself.
