They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. Their staff was friendly enough, but they didn't go out of their way to help me. I feel like my appointment was pointless. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. The office was easy enough to find. They had my mom's chart mixed up with another patient I was given information that her chemo would start after her radiation then she gets a cal (after about 3 radiation treatments)l on Thursday saying that she needs to be at the lab Friady because her chemo is starting Monday (she was terribly upset). My mom had stage 3b cervical cancer and I get a call on my answering machine from Dr. Robertson's office saying that she needed to come in for her annual pap smear??? Hello I think that we are past that. The cancer was gone they never informed us that it could come back within a year or any of the symptoms. Needless to say, it did come back and we were having her treated for Sciatica when it was actually the tumor pressing against her nerve. When she was rediagnosed she weighed 98lbs and we had been at the radiologist office and they suggested that we contact Dr. Robertson's office and get her some IV fluids (all they had was just plain fluids not with everything that she needed). We made an appointment for the next day at Dr. Robertson's office to get IV fluids. When he came in to the exam room he told her if he were her he would stop the chemo and have a quality of life and not quality for her last months. I said what do you mean he said she has 6 to 8 months. He never offered IV fluids. I asked for some Megesterol to make her have an appetite. He gave me a prescription for 4 or 6 ozs which lasted about 3 days. We went back to the radiologist office the next Monday, they were appauled that they gave her no IV fluids to make her feel better. The nurse said we will just give her what we have in IV fluids. What a difference no more dry heaves, no more lathargy, and she started eating a little (she suffered 4 days that could have been prevented.
We switched to Dr. Benrubi and his secretary (who is awesome) figured up how many ounces it would take to get her through a month and gave us a precription for two big bottles at the time. My mom got her weight back up to 135.
I have nothing good to say about this office. However, Dr. Benrubi's office was great. Georgette is a huge assest to his practice!!
Let's see if this makes the blog.
